Hello, I'm Ariana. I was born and raised in So. California to Mexican parents, and was consumed by art at a young age.
My dad worked for an art restorer in Los Angeles, CA for most of my childhood so my siblings and I would occasionally see rejected or broken art materials from his workplace decorating our backyard. "¡Es arte!," we would exclaim to anything that looked unusual.
Despite being familiar with art--or maybe because of it--I didn't have much interest in producing it until I won competitions in high school for my paintings and drawings. But after spending most of my high school years learning about and producing art, I wanted a break. I graduated high school, moved to Central Texas with my family, and seeing how accessible 35mm film and cameras were at the time, I tried photography as a way to continue being creative. I was in love.
My interest in photos has since increased, progressed, and evolved; I took my first experimental photos in 2007 using film SLR cameras, then slowly moved onto film point-and-shoots in 2010, and ended up loving digital point-and-shoot cameras in 2012.
I now use an assortment of digicams to take pictures and film videos, alongside my iPhone.
